I have looked at about a dozen or so other 1882-CC's and a few have these same features or or some of them. These raised thin extended ledges extending off the leaves and a spike coming off the neck.Mine seem stronger than other slabbed examples that I have searched for that are similar.

First, yes it's a VAM. All Morgan and Peace dollars have been cataloged with a VAM number used to describe the obverse and reverse die pairing. The area you've circled with lines off the neck are clash lines from the eagle's right wing. just below these is the clash mark from the n in the reverse motto IGWT. To me it appears you have a VAM-3C.http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.c...82-CC_VAM-3C
After thinking about it for a bit it could be the earlier die state VAM-3B if the die crack hasn't developed over the cap yet, but yeah, the coin is real and I'll assume the slab is therefore.
