Bigger pics of both sides will be needed as it is too small to see what is going on and you will want to crop the photos to remove most of the background. Also, you should try to get an accurate weight, preferably on a scale with an accuracy of 0.01 grams.

This is probably the kind of coin that merits an accurate weight and an inspection in-hand. It's Purely speculation on my part, but the splotchy colors suggest to me this coin was buried or exposed to something that affected the surface. The outer cladding of US coins is 75% copper, which can react and change the appearance in the proper conditions.

I'll try to get an "accurate" weight today or tomorrow.

I measured the weight of this coin 11.4 grams.

Also, measured asimilar coin(same year, mint) 11.4 grams as well.

My guess would be that someone copper plated the coin. The plating is not thick enough to significantly affect the weight. Since it has little numismatic value, you could try scraping a small area to see if it is the normal clad color underneath. The rim would be the least obvious place, but remember that the center of the rim is often copper color in clad coins.
