Here is a one dollars coin that I have been holding for the past 40 years. It was given to me by an old lady in France 3 days before she past away in 1979. I don't know if it's real, but it look real to me. Can anyone help? Thank you

Wow I didn't know a thing about the silver dollar until I looked them up on NGC and PCGS. pictures of the real coins are entirely different. Well at least you have a nice famous counterfeit dollar. Just like I have the famous Henning 1944 Jefferson nickel counterfeit coin.

No value on mine just bragging rights lol.

It's a replica and interesting that you got it in France. The bust is a French design by Dupre. IMO his Liberty busts are the best. Here's my favorite on French coins.

Low quality reproduction. Might have been something someone bought in a novelty store at Colonial Williamsburg or similar.

You can always use it as a conversation piece. Talk up the rarity of the real coin, and then hit them with the fact that it's a fake, and talk about how manufacturing fakes is an industry unto itself.
