Hi All,

Came across this 1966 with a "bent 9". Is this PMD? I ask because I don't see any obvious marks.

Thanks

Somewhere on one of the 4-5 coin sites, a coin just like this came up, but the photography and grade were much better. It as 3-4 weeks ago, but I couldn't find it. There were a number of replies, but I don't remember what was what.

I found it:

It does appear to be the same as the coin in the thread okie posted. I have no idea how such a thing could happen as an error though? I can't see any obviouse damage that would have shifted the tail of the 9 in such a way though. In the thread okie posted it doesn't seem obviouse but roller machine damage seem plausible. I'll wait to see what some others say but one the example okie posted you can see the tail looks like it was flattened and shoved over. I'm 99% that it is roller damage.

Thank you all for your thoughts.

@okiecoiner I've seen damage like in the 1980 you linked, but on this 1966 I don't see the "ghost" of where the 9 was before the damage. Also, it looks like there is possible Machine Doubling on the point?

@oldmike After you mentioned the possibility of a die crack I started convincing myself that I see a rounded edge to the 9. However, When I overlay the this 1966 with a normal 1966 it does appear to sit higher.

Something about this coin looks different to me... I'll put it aside
