I've got this token in a bunch of coins, a Google image search indicates that it's based on The Tiberius Denarius - 'The Tribute Penny'. I can't find any other details about it, can someone please enlighten me.

Yes, presumably, it's a tourist souvenir. Maybe it's sold in gift shops. Given the popularity of the Tribute Penny - on account of it's links to the Bible - real ones aren't cheap.

So obviously different style, that I really do not think that OP's coin is really even intended to be a fake.
More of a modern fantasy representation .

'Based' on original would be an accurate way of describing it.

You know, famous because it is a coin Jesus uses for a lesson, you have to wonder why if the female was draped in the ancient version, why the modern one that assumes a religious audience decided to have her not draped at all looking very healthy like that.
