Hi, I haven't heard of any mules as of yet, however I may have a lead.
There was a 2008 Olympic coin that was previously released through a collector sets or cards, (I think it was bob sledding, and I got a few of them), that never got released through normal public circulation channels. These are the ones you would find in your every day change.
If you go to the RCM web site, they do acknowledge that they have not released this item in UNC rolls, and its not expected until Mid 2009. I do recall reading an article that there was an issue with the dies or something like that.
If this being the case, then I wonder if they are now going to have a 2009 date on them.
Hmmmm...get the idea?

Not specifically this one, but simuliar.
The example you provided is a 2007/2008 issue. You ever think the RCM will ever get it right?
There were a number of individual collector cards that contain the same olympic alpine quarter however it is slighly colourized with a red plastic film that Petro Canada distributes in which theirs had a 2007 date meanwhile the circulated quarter had a 2008. (or was it the other way around). Some people were saying that there were some proof-Like sets that contained the 2007 date as well. Regardless people were opening up the collector card, ripping off the plastic colourized material and selling them. Ive also seen some that got certified as a mule.
I've got the ollector card, and I won't destroy it for the sake of a few bucks. The collector card series is still going on @ Petro Canada and you can still get some older cards, but I am inclined to believe the Alpine skiing one is tough to get.
In closing I'm just going to hang tight and see what happens with this potential 2008/2009 issue.

Sometimes I wonder if the Mink does this purposely to create interest in a coin series.
