The bottom of the neck seems to be a stress point on this die- I have seen several over the years that have diebreaks from the bottom of the neck, and most come from the point of the bust, or close to it.
Dies were often used until they broke apart. The damage on the reverse side does not seem to go through any major feature, possibly a weakness in that die- improper annealing?
