I was inspired by another post to take a closer look at my 1859 large cents for varieties. Didn't find any but found one that has a pretty impressive die crack (if that's what it is) and some other irregularities (filled dies)
Do die cracks lower the grade of the coin?

thanks
malissa

hi hhb,
thank you. I use my digital camera on macro setting and I bought a jumbo sized magnifying jewelers loop (10x magnification) and I hold that over the lens. Pictures can be sharper if I can hold my breath better. lol

I wonder why people would specifically collect coins with die cracks? must be the only thing out there that you would buy on purpose with a crack in it.

Die cracks seem pretty common on these.
It just makes them more interesting especially on an
excellent example as you have.
Great suggestion for the magnification.
I will have to try that
