picked this up being new to this and only knowing I like the design . Well after a few months I revisited it an can see that the abrasion was to possibly hide the fact it's and 8 over 7 . The damage even though it looks awful is very superficial . You can still see the die chip over the 8 and the the raised 7 . The weakness in the wing is present also.

I'll say VF details (badly scratched). Shame.

There are 2 varieties of the 8/7. The one with the die chip also has a very noticeable broken wing tip, which is not showing on your coin. It does not appear to be that variety, but there is a chance it could be the other. Both varieties come form the large letter variant, and we will need better pictures to determine anything.

As for grade, VF details sounds about right. Lots of harsh scratches though.
