I would say xf40-xf45 maybe au50, but I'm just giving my best guess

Nice coin, great color, i'll say high end VF. Would probably be a great candidate for some VerdiCare as well.

Wow, why am I so far off on the grade? I looked at it for a while in comparison to the PCGS photograde, what am I missing, always good to learn.

@coreyg I think this coin is VF35 and close to XF40. If you look at the comparison image below, the '54 does not have any split stars. The hair above the eye and brow is flat and not rounded in the '54 compared to the PCGS plate coin. This could be due to strike and the '54 looks well struck which suggests that it may be wear rather that strike weakness. Overall, it is close to xf40 but I think it falls slightly short.

i would also add that the sharpness of rims and denticles fall short of a 40
