Hello,

I found this cob on a 18th century site. The only other coin found there was a 1722 french coin. If it can help!

Thank you very much!

That's really cool you found a cob from a historic site! Was it underground and found with a metal detector? I would weigh it on a scale and see how many grams it weighs. Cobs with environmental damage can end up weighing much differently from regal standards, but it'll help estimate the denomination. From the size in your photos I'm guessing it might be a 1/2 real or 1 real cob. I can make out part of the cross and possibly a castle from the coat of arms in your second photo. The presence of green verdigris on your cob I can only associate with the copper in the silver alloy reacting with the environment.

Not too much to go on. I would guess Mexico too. It looks like a piece cut from a larger cob.
