I... am loving this bag of wheats!

What do you guys think? Another regular damaged 1922D, or is it a weak D?

Another-1922-D-...-Weak?
Another-1922-D-...-Weak?

The picture of the reverse is rotated because the reverse of the coin is rotated.

thanks!

rockdude, I agree. That is what I thought it was before I posted.. but yesterday I got all excited thinking I had a 1922 weak D and it turned out to be damaged.

could anyone postulate as to the grade of this coin?

I don't think I would call that a weak D. the D is clearly visible,
but just my opinion as I'm by no means an expert on these

I have a Lincoln Cent grading aid on my Ask About Coins page. It's in the January Newsletter. The link is in my signature at the bottom of the post. You can try to work the grading out on yur own , with the guidance I provided.

It's a great way to learn what to look for.

Have Fun,
Bill

Bill,

Once again thanks a lot for the info. It will be a great help to me in gauging the grade of my cents.

The reason I was asking for help with a possible grade for this coin is because... I heard that because of the "weakness" (right word?) of the strikes on the 1922 that the way the coin is graded is different.

Also, it almost looks like this coin was minted on a cracked planchet to me... can you tell? Is it post mint damage?

I would call this one a Weak D. Yours still seems normal for that year.

ah, okay. so the semi-identification by the rotated reverse just says that it came from die pair #3.. which COULD produce weak Ds and no Ds? being able to attribute the coin to the die pair doesn't necessarily mean that the D is weak, I guess?

I see nothing unusual, just a normal, worn 22D.
