For grade I would say Vf but a little hard to tell as pics are a bit bright to see all the detail that may be there. as for values
vg8 30.00 f12 35.00 vf20 45.00 ef40 55.00
nice find!!

I would agree that it would pass as a VF-20. It's taken a bit of a beating, but the looks of the pics though which may affect the value a bit. As Malissadawn showed, there's not a bif difference in price between F and VF though. That is really an excellent find!

thanks guys! the coin really looks better in person than in the pictures.
i have heard something about pearls and jewels being used as a rudimentary diagnostic for grade. trouble is I have no idea what that means :D.
help please!

It means the condition and amount of wear in the pearls and jewels in the kings crown. Those are really easy to wear away and that's why the grade depends greatly on the condition of the crown. Maybe if you can take another pic that isn't quite so brightly lit we could see more. Either way you got a fantastic find there! :)

That is one of the KGV keys! Only the 1923 is more valuable. The center crown diamond is intact on both sides, so I would say VF too. It's seen some rougher wear, but sometimes pics don't show the overall appeal. That's a very, very good find for a lot of wheats!

Wow! So if I were to sell this coin, how much would be a good asking price? Also, is anyone here interested? I think it's a neat coin, but I am just not that into Canadian coinage.
I also found (2)1940, a 1943, a 1946, a 1954, a 1964, a 1968, and a 1979. Any good?
In this bag of wheats I also found 3 1909 V.D.B.s, a 1922 D, a 1922 weak D, and a 1924 D. =D

WOW, what a lucky find and congrats on it! I've been looking for one for the past 50 years and finally purchased an I.C.C.S., MS-62, Lustrous Brown in the last Torex auction @ top premium. This piece has the lowest mintage of all Canadian small cents and is seldom found in most Canadian collections. Hang on to it for your dear life, maybe someday you'll be able to pay off your mortgage with it! Glenn Pinto
