Hey folks,

What do you think the grade is on this Buffalo nickel?

Also, what are these lines I have circled in red?

Thanks!

Why does it look pink? Some kind of acid damage?

I'd say XF-45 with a late stage obverse die and a die clash at 8:00 (from a rotated reverse die).

Mrhakfbacon- You can't just leave it at that, elaborate.

If you're saying PMD you're very wrong I assure you.

XF40 for me. Not damage. Zurie nails it, rotated die clashing and overused dies, clashing also noticeable in the field in front of the bridge of the nose. Signs of a rotated clash are also noticeable on the reverse with the chin clash in EPU (@ the U in UNUM carrying into the bisons back). Typically in an aligned die this clash is shifted into the U in PLURIBUS. Without doing an overlay, looks around 20-25 degrees or so. Curious if this one has rotated dies as well, or just a rotated clash, will likely have rotated dies.

Surprisingly minimal about of reverse die polishing noticeable, considering how late die state this one is. Not the most attractive coin, but an Interesting example given the clashing and die state issues that plagued this series.

Solid EF-45, just some strike issues.
