Evening all,

Quick question for you all. I recently bought this coin on the cheap.

A-Touch-Of-Verdigris
A-Touch-Of-Verdigris

I knew there was some staining(?)/verdigris(?) on it from the images, but it actually looks worse in the flesh than I originally thought it would. It's a shame because it's quite nice and definitely not the worst piece I've bought. I know that cleaning is a big no-no, but is there any suggestion for at least making it look less obvious? If not, will leave it and live with it.

Cheers all.

I'd leave well enough alone. You could try Verdi-care, but the resulting color under the ED would not likely match the surrounding fields.

I'd read about verdicare, but not sure whether it was worth the bother or not.

Like Frog says, I'll probably leave as is.

Much obliged for the replies. Ta
Rest in Peace

I have to agree Verdi-Care and or Acetone would not solve that problem .

Still a nice coin.
We all look different with a little age.
I kind of like it.

I wonder if a cotton swab and a tiny bit of olive oil might be of any help. It's a beautiful coin, a shame it has this verdigiis on it.

Keep in mind that cotton is still abrasive. Whatever you decide to do, do it with caution.
