This is a 1 oz silver round with an image of a proposed Nevada State Quarter design from Daniel Carr. On Mr. Carr's website he shows a similar round with this design but a completely different reverse. (This round is also frosted on the triangle part of the field to the right of the train's smoke stack and to the west of Nevada.) Anyone have any more information on this round? I emailed Mr. Carr directly over a week ago with no response. What do the experts think? Can you guys help me pinpoint this bad boy? This round shot as .999 silver on my x-ray spectrometer and measures 1-9/16". Thanks a lot. Cheers -VegasCoinDude

I recognize the " Statehood Quarter Replica" side, it was used on a full series of silver rounds that mimiced the US Mint's Statehood Quarter designs - I have the one for North Carolina.

The following is pure conjecture on my part...

There's a chance that Daniel Carr had nothing to do with this silver round. I see the "DC" initials, but they don't guarantee anything. Mr. Carr has documented proof that his designs have been copied, used without permission and resold by others under false pretenses.

One thing that make me suspicious - Your round does not have the level of detail on the State Map side as seen on Mr. Carr's prototype piece. It's a reasonably faithful replica, but it appears to be a simplified version and not exact.

It would NOT surprise me to learn that the round is not a Daniel Carr-produced piece. But, I can't say for sure, and others might have more firsthand knowledge...

What does your the obverse on your round look like? George Washington's Head?

I am also leaning towards this being not authentic. Thank you so much for you time and attention.

No, it has the Wright Brothers "First Flight" design. (I'll try to dig it out and image it.) The entire series used the "Statehood" design for each state vs. Washington's portrait.

Just to be clear. I wasn't saying it's a counterfeit round - it's likely one ounce of silver. I was just saying that it might have been produced without Mr. Carr's involvement. I hope he responds to your email so that we know for sure either way,

It's definitely an ounce of silver (according to my x-ray spectrometer) but, I was just agreeing with you that it probably wasn't produced with Mr. Carr's involvement. I am awaiting the email and hope he, or someone on his staff, can sort it out. Thanks for your help, as always, commems. :D

A small bit of internet research for " Statehood Quarter replica" reveals that these are part of a series.
