I am in need of help. My uncle wanted me to look at some gold coins he has and give him an idea on value and what to do with them. Of course he has very little numismatic knowledge and doesn't understand how important it is to send me close up shots of both obverse and reverse. I have text messages with gold blobs for the most part. Anyway I live in Colorado and he is in Jackson, MS. Does anyone out there know of a reputable coin dealer or store where he could both have them assess the coins and then maybe send them into PCGS if need be. The 6 coins are as follows: 1910 $2 1/2, 1857 $2 1/2, 1851 $1, 1852 $1, 1853 $1 and 1854 $1. I am not even sure if any of the coins have mintmarks, which would definitely be helpful. LOL

Hard to help without pics of both sides of each coin.

Ask him if there are mintmarks. Chances are they are all common-date Ps. Especially on the 1851-54 $1 gold, any coins from other mints would carry a potentially significant premium, especially in higher grades.

I mentioned to look for mintmarks on them for sure, but have not heard back.
