Hi, I have never posted and just started collecting and came across this 2006 P Jefferson with a few possible errors. One on his chin and two errors flanking Monticello. Their is also something strange in the letters of Monticello but that may be damage from circulation. I have seen posts and videos on some of these errors but not all these possible errors on the same coin.I am new at all of this and any info is certainly appreciated.

Those all appear to be Die Chips which are not errors
but part of the minting process.
The word MONTICELLO just has circulation dings.

I call them Die events. Recently we have been noticing that the die chips can happen after a die clash. When the die touch each other, they leave mark from the opposite dies where the designs outlines touch. I'll have to check with an overlay to see if that is the case on your coin.

Looks like this is the case with your coin. Part of the design outlines were touched and chip metal away from the opposing dies. Looks like another case of the die clash event altering the dies. The hit on area, causes a chip away that opposing die and when the metal breaks off the die, we now see a void that is filled with the planchets' metal. Putting the jigsaw puzzle with view overlays helps to see what could and did happen.

CoopHome: What can cause some die chips? How can we understand the cause? Overlays, help answer questions on some die chips.
