Truly an amazing collection and a perfect example of what can be accomplished by a discerning collector with a big budget!
Kudos to Mr. Bingham!
The detail on the Columbian proof is tremendous! The yellowish color/toning on the 1928 Hawaiian points to the coin being part of the Bank of Hawaii hoard vs. one sold at the time of the coin's launch - a great looking piece, either way!
Thanks for posting the info and link!

One other comment regarding this. I've admired for a while Gregg Bingham's #2 ranked NGC registry set of classic commemoratives, many of which are included in these auctions. His bio on the registry and interesting comments on most of the coins in the set make for some entertaining reading; you can tell he is very passionate about his coins! https://www.ngccoin.com/registry/co...e-sets/1648/

I always enjoy encountering an enthusiastic collector!
I've been known, from time to time, to jot down a few thoughts about the US commemorative series and always appreciate getting the chance to read the enthusiastic thoughts of a fellow collector!

Just a magnificent matched collection. A bit sad that a collection obviously assembled with such care and is being "disassembled". museum quality.

Quote: I've been known, from time to time, to jot down a few thoughts about the US commemorative series... Oh, I hadn't really noticed that, commems... Just kidding - the enthusiasm - not to mention education - you and so many others on this forum bring to the table is what keeps me coming back every opportunity I have during the day. I joined a little over a year ago just to have some interaction with other collectors, but I never realized just how much enjoyment I would get out of the experience!

On the other hand, those coins will be shared now with so many other collectors who will then have the opportunity to appreciate them in the years to come!
