I'm thinking of starting a subscription service to one of the many coin publication services out there. I don't know which one to start off with though. Do any of you currently subscribe to any publications? Have any recommendations?

My interests focus mainly on world coins. I'd love to subscribe to a service that can help me learn a lot more about world coins, their markets, their history, Counterfeit Detection, etc. If any of you also know of any good American or ancient coin publication services, I'd love to hear about them too!

I will buy any publication that gives information of counterfeit and fake coins, how to detect them.
Most dealers maintain a back room 'black' collection of fake coins.
So do I.
What usually exposes a fake coin is it's method of manufacture.
Therefore, it is necessary to learn from the publication is what characterizes different types of manufacture

Any periodical publication that is at the cutting edge of coin research is a publication worth subscribing to. Unfortunately these publications cover the whole of numismatics, and most collectors are specialists.
For this type of publication, I usually buy them as back date issues at a lower price from a LCS or in job lots at public auction. This is one factor that prompted me to collect across the whole of numismatics. Nevertheless I get interested in this type of auction lot, when the numismatic information in such a literature lot is of educative interest to me.

Later on, I usually give this sort of numismatic literature away for free, to any other collector that may be interested. or even give them for free, to my LCS.

I am happy when every collector gets to learn more about his hobby. If it is at my expense, then so be it.
