Nells250 Pillar of the Community United States 781 Posts	Posted 06/19/2022 5:50 pm HELLO all I am still learning about ALL coins, so I sometimes sit and browse ebay just looking at what has been issued through the years by various mints. I was looking at Canadian commemoratives and found some I really like. One in particular has piqued my curiosity. I suppose some may think they are rather vulgar, but I have to confess I like the maple leafs with opal "leafs" (white one is nicer). But I can't seem to find any real information about them online. Looks like only 500 of each were made? What did they retail for? ETC ETC ETC! Report this Post to the Staff

commems CCF Master Historian of USA Commemoratives United States 12252 Posts	Posted 06/19/2022 8:17 pm As mentioned, the enhancements to the Silver Maple Leaf coins you've shown were not done by the R C M - they were done by a private mint in Germany (this mint "enhances" lots of of Silver Eagles and Silver Maples with various colorful designs and limited production runs), The Opal coins were issued in 2019 and 2020 for sure - I haven't yet seen a 2021 or 2022 version, however. Their "issue" price was variable between dealers as they are not official government issues - ~$150 USD is a reasonable estimate.Today, they can be found for lower prices and higher prices - depends on the seller. They need a different type of collector. With these, very low mintages don't necessarily lead very high values based on rarity. Much more often, they remain at somewhere near their issue price.
