Per a Mint Press Release about its new gold bullion coin:

"The Klondike Gold Rush, a turning point in Canadian mining history, and the prospecting methods used to find gold first discovered in Yukon's famed Bonanza creek in 1896, are being remembered on a new Royal Canadian Mint 99.999% (5-9s) pure gold bullion coin. This new issue, illustrating the operation of a traditional sluice box, is the second coin in a series of 1 oz. 5-9s pure gold coins commemorating "the last great gold rush" that forever transformed Canada, Yukon and the lives of the Indigenous people who have inhabited the land for millennia."

It was announced/launched at the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada that was held this week in Toronto.

As a mining aficionado, I like it! A really neat and cool design.

What's the SH on the left side in the design? The designers initials?

I went to the Royal Canadian Mint website and searched "The Klondike Gold Rush" this is so much nicer looking than the previous designs they've put out. the only other one I kind of like is the gold panning one. the Klondike Valley coin is pretty ugly IMO, and I wasn't that impressed with the panning concave silver and gold (multi colored) coin. This new coin is 100 times better looking I'd say.

The Royal Canadian Mint is so much more advanced than the US Mint in designs minting techniques and interesting looking coinage.

I also hadn't seen the Star Wars Han Solo rectangular silver coin yet, it is "awaiting stock" interesting looking and I'm sure that will sell out quickly to newer younger collectors. EDIT: Just saw the "Han Solo in Carbonite" is made for the Island Niue, that explains the shape, as they always seem to go after odd shapes and designs, I didn't know the RCM was producing their coinage. Not a coin of Canada.

Yes, the Prospecting For Gold coin is designed by Canadian artist Steve Hepburn ("SH").
