The US Mint at Denver struck the 1972 Piso coins for the Philippines. Over the years, I've seen a variety of errors on these coins. Maybe producing 121.8 million examples for the Philippines in 1972 stressed the QC process in Denver? The coin's reverse features a left-facing portrait of Jose Rizal, a National Hero of the Philippines due to key role in the rebellion against the Spanish; he was executed by the Spanish for his role on December 30, 1896. The obverse presents the Coat-of-Arms of the Republic of the Philippines. (Sides appear opposite vs. expected in NGC holder.) 1972 Philippines One Piso - Clip Error Note: Clip percentages are generally determined via the weight of the coin.
