I'm new to coin collecting and I need help to figure out if this is a error or just a scratch. It is a 1965 quarter

I do believe you are right about it being a scratch, it could be a struck through but with the photos and due to the coins condition it's hard to tell.

It is not a Struck Through, it is a scratch.
You can see displaced metal at the bottom of the scratch.

The metal is showing a wave. It is post strike damage. Want to know why it is PSD:
