I can't seem to find any answers as to how this would happen, so I'm looking in the place I always get answers.

Looks like a struck through something, possibly grease.

That would have been a very hard piece of grease. But the bottom is very flat and even, I think it was a strike through, just not grease, a possible object was in the press and then fell out.
