This one also looked like it was extremely well struck so I grabbed it after thinking about it over a couple of days. Paid a small premium over retail. Thoughts? Thanks!

Looks like it is in an NGC holder so some of the marks might be on the plastic. It's a beauty, I'm at MS-65 on it.

just a tad light on obv strike. reverse strike is great. this one is a winner. MS65 unless they dont like the patchy toning but that reverse is stunning.

congratulations on this acquisition

65
Lovely example
The weakness in the shield lines is normal, even my 1870 proof (PCGS Proof 64) has weakly struck shield lines despite a full strike elsewhere

Very nice example, particularly the reverse! MS65 looks about right to me, as well.

WOW! That is a fantastic strike. The rays are absolutely sharp on this coin, and almost all of the stars have full centrils. I don't see any evidence of circulation. The only evident contact mark is the small ding below the "W" in WE. If this isn't at MS-65, it better be sporting a bean. Great coin!

(My old type set example was a generic UNC, but it looked more like baseball bats surrounded by fuzzy Christmas cookies than rays and stars.)

I'm thinking they tagged it a point due the obverse toning patchiness. there are a few fine hairlines on both sides but not enough imo to trim it a point. I can buy MS64 as long as it got that bean. either way its a pretty coin and excellent example with a strike thats better than most.
