Just ran across this today checking a roll of dimes. These marks on the reverse look like polish marks but it does not appear on the raised elements. These lines extend halfway across the dime. What do you think ?

OK... so let me get this straight. This would have had to happen when the planchet was loaded before the die struck it. Am I correct ? I always thought that feeder fingers would be after the strike and the coin was ejected.

The feeder finger scratched the die, so every coin struck thereafter will show the damage.

Yes... Just saw an article on that by Coop. Now it makes sense. The original damaged was to the die. I have seen other coins with scrapes that looked liked it ran under the elements. Only the die can do that. Thanks for the help.
