Beautiful coin! Had to join the community just so I could say as much as well as share my 1970 D quarter struck on the dime stock find, an by "find", I mean just that, although I would of paid the 1.50 in a heartbeat just tr he same! Lol Ok, quick story just because its makes it all the more meaningful to me anyhow.. So back in may, in the 18th I believe, I was in Littleton for my nephews graduation from the Co. Center for the Blind. I stayed over at a motel in the Denver tech area an stopped by the closet Walmart that next mornin to get some cash back at the self checkout, do my thing an go to take my cash an see a quarter sittin in the change return, snatch it up, give it a once over an looked to have maybe some.grease filled die issues on the reverse an possibly obverse of it, HECK YEAH, SCORE! right? I mean for free an unexpected?!? Anytime! Ok, ramblin now, long story short, get to checkin a few days later when I make it home an it just sounds diff, feels diff, is just "off".. do some more checkin an now am certain that is what it is.. so recap, found the 1970 D quarter struck on dime stock, in Denver, in a Walmart self checkout coin return.. Plan to send off for grading as not a single dealer around os even willing to attempt to give their opinion as I can understand to an extent.. if ya made it through to the end, one I apologize and 2 thanks! Will keep future comments to a word minimum.. 🤷 (can not for the life of me.figure out how to resize the pics without losing photo quality. Will keep trying and see if can get em added shortly yet)

ksfreelancer: if you wish to show us your coin, please do so in a thread of your own, not this one. Thanks.

Mrwhatisit: any update on getting your coin slabbed? We'd love to see it!

The difference between tinny planchet and the wrong planchet denomination.

Given the fact that the clad foils are equal for all denomination's, the difference it is in the high of the coin (the core CU is tinnier or thicker).

I wait to see what the graders will say on this coin, but I am skeptical to be dime planchet. In any ways it is an very nice find and wished coin to have in the collection. Absolut sure not many coins like this are around.
