Need help on identifying these 2 coins please.

I don't collect Canadian Coins except whatever I find while going thru my daily roll searching of U.S. coins.

Here are 2 sets of pics- one is a 1953 and the other a 1955.

Are these both the NSS variety? or the normal SS Variety (1955 especially)

Thanks for the help.

Hi,
Both your coins are the shoulder strap (SS) variety. A quick way to tell is the "I" in DEI points to a denticle.
The SS in '53 was slightly less common, and the 55 SS is the common one.

Thanks Kurt!

The 1947 Canadian Cent

What do you exactly look for on that one? Blunt Leaf 7?

I have 2 of them that I found.

Thanks!

1) The 1953 penny clearly has a shoulder strap (SS) and the "I" in DEI is straight and points directly to a denticle.
The NSS variety would have a flared "I" in DEI and point between two denticles.

2) On the 1955 penny, the should strap (or lack of) is harder to see, but the "I" in DEI is straight and points directly to a denticle.

I would say you have the SS variety of both coins.

Chuckster,
Think the best variety for 1947 is the "blunt 7 maple leaf", which has a collector premium in higher grades.
If you post pics, I'll be happy to give my opinion on those.

Here are the 1947 coins.

The second one is not in good shape (Verdigris etc).

Thanks again!

Nice how you have an example of both the "blunt 7" (first coin) and the "pointed 7" date.
Both coins have had a bit of a rough life, but they're good examples to keep.
My first blunt 7 was well-circulated, then I found a MS coin at a show.
