I started collecting in the 1950s and since about 1970 I added each year's coins by taking them out of mint sets. Recently I began updating my albums after inactivity for the past 20 years (except for buying the mint and proof sets each year). I bought all new pages for my Coinmaster albums and new Dansco albums for my Lincoln cents, and now I'm up to 1999 and am having trouble convincing myself to cut open the sets from then to the present. I'm thinking about stopping the albums for each denomination and instead putting the mint sets in an album. My concern is that albums for mint sets would get large and heavy very fast. Does anyone have any comments/recommendations on displaying mint sets in albums?
Also, starting in 2005, do collectors save a satin finish coin from the mint sets and a business strike for each denomination each year? If so, what is the best source for BU business strike coins since the mint sets no longer supply those coins? Thanks in advance for your help.

I have been opening 1 mint set each year since 59. all my albums since then have from mint sets including satin finish.
I have a Dansco for each Denomination except the Nickle and Washington 32-59 have thought about starting them but have never got around to it.

I look forward each year to the mint set coming out, so that I may update my albums

Thanks for your input. Starting in 2005, do you put a satin finish from the mint set and a business strike in your albums? If you do, do you take the business strike out of circulation?

I only use the Satin finish. Just like this year all mint sets will be copper that is all I will use
Rest in Peace

Eagle has a nice album for mint sets that is not cumbersome / weighty that displays them nicely but keeps them sealed, also nice ones to display proof sets intact. https://www.eaglecoinholders.com
They give you a good option of displaying your sets to enjoy them without breaking the coins out.
