I found this auction for one of the concept coins for the 2000 Saq coin

http://cgi.ebay.com/2000-Liberty-He...69_W0QQitemZ120374810752QQihZ002QQcategoryZ11983QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

What do you guys think about it? Is it worth it? I would love to have one just as a cool little coin to pull out and show but I do not think its worth 145 USD. I ran across the auction when I was looking for saq rolls on ebay. Its one of the designs that I thought would have been the best fit for the golden dollars but it was not choosen.

Yea it would have been a better choice, but Congress is full of idiots.

I can speak for the value but I don't care for the design. I can see why it was not selected for circulation.

here is a link with some more info- http://www.smalldollars.com/dollar/page17.html
Since this is not a US Mint product, it cannot be called an actual pattern(which would have value) but it would be similar to the concept work that Daniel Carr has done(he also created a golden dollar concept). IMO, this thing is a mere minor historical footnote and not worth almost $150, maybe $50 or so.

It is a really nice design. I really wish the mint would approve that for
a future coin.

I don't understand why they would grade Gallery Mint stuff.

Thanks for all the input guys. I do like the design. I think it would have worked out well to go with it but you know what we got..lol not that the current design is bad or anything. The concept is traditional to classical in look and I thought it gave the Mint back some of the Good'ole days, which in my opinion the US mint needs!

I do not think the concept is worth 145 but I still am thinking about buying one just to place along side my replica confed half dollar :)

Bobby ICG will grade just about anything but at lest they tell you what it is and do not fabricate the truth about it like the non-reputable TPG. I really do not care about the grade on it that much. I just like the novelty of the concept coin
