Thanks for the update @New1954
The only item on this list that I am drawn to is the Robert Bateman Snowy Owl. However I will wait a few years and pick it up on the secondary market when the depreciation has run its course. At a mintage of 4,500 this will not be a rare item.

@New1954: Thanks for August list.
I'm not seeing anything in my collecting wheelhouse on the list. See you in September!

Nice overview and normally lots of good finds. The Royal Canadian Mint makes great stuff! Most dont get to see the low mintage coins too often except on the second hand market. You have to spend $700 it looks like to get a 1 day advance notice, 1,500 to get 4 day advance notice, 3,000 for 5 day, 4,500 for 6 day and 10,000 for 7 day on select products that will otherwise sell out before a general release due to low mintages, really not much if you are a dealer but can be alot for an individual collector obviously. I am quite facinated by the work on some of them but not cheap to the average collector. For the points to get the higher tiers, as long as your account is active, you will not lose the points you have earned, even if they have been in your account for a very long time, However, you need to make sure your account remains active if your account is inactive for two years, (no points earned or redeemed transactions during this time), your account will be closed and your points will be cancelled. Maybe the solution would be to buy and resell some to hit the amounts if you begin to regularly like those limited edition coins.

The Red River Metis Generations coin does not appear to be colored in the notice I received.

Unfortunately, the coin "Generations: The Red River Metis" is not in colour. I like the original design (below) much more.

My eyes almost always prefer a finely-engraved coin vs. one with a colour illustration added to a flat surface. (Colour enhancements added to engraved features work better. IMO.) I think the traditional, engraved artwork on the unadorned Metis coin is nicely-executed - all of the beads are clearly visible - and makes for an attractive coin - no colour needed! Just my opinion, of course, but we're all entitled to one! (Image Credit: Royal Canadian Mint media image via ebay listing.)

Snowy Owl would be the one I'd want the most but too pricey.

@commems Yes, the Metis coin without colour looks nice too. But it's not outstanding in my opinion, so I'm still on the fence. Are you going to buy this coin?

Quote: Are you going to buy this coin? @YesOrNo: No, I don't have plans to buy the Metis coin. These days, I'm generally restricting myself to the Mint's silver dollar offerings, with only occasional forays into other coins. I do check out the Mint's new offerings each month in case there is something that catches my eye, but I don't often find a coin that screams "Buy me!"

Quote:Interesting, the owl one is in ebay auction now, even it is still available in RCM website, do you think it will have a better sold price in the end? It might, though I see coins selling at a higher price than the issue price more frequently than the reverse (for coins simultaneously available from the Mint). If you're interested in the coin, why not put in a lower-than-issue bid - you might get lucky!

APMEX has the owl for as low as $189.99at the moment should you not have direct access from the mint at a better price. Prior purchases can allow for earlier access to the limited coins as mentioned in my earlier post and known by regular buyers at RCM. https://www.apmex.com/product/25592...on-driftwood Pay attention to the shipping cost for that and some other ebay listing, to the US as that also can be high.

The Snowy Owl coin is currently available to all - no Masters Club restrictions. The APMEX price at $189.95 USD works out to be about $10 more than the Mint's issue price and the Mint price is good for Credit Cards (not higher as at APMEX) - The Mint also offers free shipping to the US and Canada for the coin (S/H is $9.95 USD at APMEX for orders under $199.95). It seems direct from the Mint is the better way to go if you want the coin.

No, I am not interested in this one. Just want to see the final price. I now restrict myself to buying only those with a mintage lower than 2500 and are less or equal to 2 oz silver coin.
