I have a BU coin roll of 2001 D Lincoln cents. On many of them it seems as if the hair is flattened out. I looked at the picture of the coin and do not see it in any of the pictures where it looks like that. Please advise.

We need a clear photo of both sides of the coin.
Without that, we would just be guessing.

It looks like the Obverse has been scraped or ground somehow.
You can see the zinc core showing through on the rims.
It is damage, not an error.

The deeper part of the hair may have been blocked with grease.
