Yes, certainly an eastern Roman (Byzantine) empire Follis, with 2 facing portraits (rough shape), but a smaller size than the usual.

Well worn, and so hard to tell. But I would guess it may be a follis of Nicephorus I with Stauracius.

Thanks, Bob. However, my David Sear book "byzantine coins" does not indicate a Follis with 2 portraits. How complete is this book, or do you know?

I see now that this coin is described but NOT illustrated in my book. So indeed it seems to match well including the weight.
