Hello everyone. I have a 1976 P Half Dollar I found in circulation and tonight as I was going through some mint sets still sealed up I found a 1978 D half dollar with almost an identical error in the same spot, just smaller.
Anyways. This is for the 1976 half, I'm terrible at determining types of errors/varieties and my best guess at this is something to do with something on the die, like grease? I dubbed this the chicken leg error/variety as the first thing that came to my mind was a chicken thigh/leg.
Just looking for clarification and more info. Thank you. And to be specific, this is a cavity rather than a raised surface etc.
