1952 was a strange year for British coins. The death of King George VI early in the year meant that The Royal Mint started working in new issues for Queen Elizabeth II for release in 1953. The only coins issued for circulation were the farthing, halfpenny, threepence and the sixpence: the latter is by far the scarcest cupro-nickel British sixpence with a mintage figure of about 2 million:

Other denominations were certainly planned for 1952 but were abandoned. A single penny and halfcrown exist, and several coin catalogs refer to the existence of two 1952 English shillings, though I've never actually seen a photo of one. Here is a 1952 threepence:

Australia still had 50% silver coins in 1952 - this florin is very worn considering the relatively short period it would have spent in circulation:

George VI also appears on this East African shilling:

1952 Libya 2 piastres with portrait of King Idris I:

France 50 Francs - the highest value circulating coin at the time:

I agree 1952 was strange in the UK and I have only just got one of those sixpences!

However New Zealand was a different kettle of fish, it was a smaller year after 5 really big ones in a row, but still decent.
Basically the standard 1955 to 1960 line up came out, halfpenny to shilling.

We are now in the time of King George VI now!

There were no Florins of Halfcrowns as there was now an oversupply and many of the pre 1947 silver ones were still in use as the silver in them was worth around half their face value. In fact none of the 1951 Halfcrowns even entered circulation until 1963!

My coins are high grade too, all VF or better and a AU halfpenny. The penny number of 10.8 million was the first NZ coin ever to top 10 million or more in one year!

Close up of high grade penny

Australia also had a good year. The shilling was issued again after a break in 1951. All other coins were issued, although the halfpenny and 3d and both are scarce by 1950s standards. The King appears on their coins too.

Very high grade (AU+) and shiny Florin.

Rest of them except halfpenny. Again the Florin is being a show off, but the sixpence is no dunger either!

From now too, we have 2 types of penny most years. Perth Mint coins have a dot after PENNY and Melbourne minted coins don't.
