Totty - that is a great Florin!! NZ in 1951 was the last of 5 good years of coins and we got it all. In fact we had so many coins circulating in this year of a Watersiders strike and high wool prices, that new 6d and 2/6 coins were stashed away in the vaults of our Reserve bank until the 1960s, so I can offer you bling quality pieces for your eyes! Pretty much all blingy except one penny! Coins below are upgrades. Blingified half crown Blingy Sixpence - UNC Puff Daddy bling level 3d - Practically UNC Numbers were a bit lower this time around, the next year 1950 saw obscene numbers of coins issued. But 1951 is a great year if you want some EF - UNC KGVI kiwi coins.

Australia had an interesting year in 1951. All the coins but the shilling were released and we got some double ups. Penny, Halfpenny and Federation Florin The 3d and 6d came in standard and PL marked versions. There were 60 million 3d and 6d minted in London in addition to the 43 million Melbourne ones. Also there were PL minted pennies and halfpennies, with the latter more scarce. That meant 3 types of Penny, Melbourne - PL London ones and the Perth one with a dot after PENNY. None are scarce. My Penny is a Melbourne one and my Half Penny is a London one as you can see PL at about 4.30 on the rim. 2 Florins were minted, the Federation coin, which celebrated 50 years of the Australian Commonwealth (In 2001 they issued a 20 coin set!!! - and I show this back there). This is AU to UNC, probably latter but not sure. 2 million came out and it was a hit, many surviving in good condition, although a lot did not! Also the standard 1951 Florin which had a higher mintage of 10 million coins, yet is harder to find in grades like this (AU). It was the first Florin since 1947!

1951 saw a full set of British coins issued, although only 120,000 pennies were struck and they are believed to have been released for circulation in Bermuda, so were always very scarce in the UK. The threepence is also quite scarce, with a mintage of just over one million: The crown is the only cupro-nickel crown to have Pistrucci's St George & the Dragon on the reverse, and was issued to commemorate the Festival of Britain, a large exhibition held on the South Bank of the Thames in London: Elsewhere in Europe, here are 3- and 5-stotinki coins from Bulgaria: A 2-rappen (2-centime) coin from Switzerland: 5 Lire from the Vatican City: Over to Central America for a 10 centimos from Costa Rica:

Good group and score on the 1951 Penny! Some world pieces for me from 1951 which nearly everyone else has too! Vatican 10 Lire to join NumisRobs 5 Lire - mine with stains Mauritius 1 Rupee (Large size in Cupronickel), colonial coins like this showed a crowned effigy of His Majesty. Canadian Dollar, no water lines and Canadian Nickel Bicentenary of what I am not sure - nickel mining and also 1951 was the centenary of their first Postage stamp. Plus a penny Penny, okay but with verdigris spots. More later.
