Thailand, in the name of Rama IX (posthumously)
25 satang (1/4 baht)
dated 2560 BE = 2017 AD

Somewhat unusually for the modern period, this coin features the titles and portrait of Rama IX (Bhumibol Adulyadej), who had actually died in October of the previous year (2016) - technically making it a posthumous issue!

In fact, by 2017, Rama X (Vajiralongkorn) had already accepted the crown, though the official coronation did not occur until May 2019.
The coins issued in 2018 already feature the new monarch (one such coin can be seen in the top post of page 12).

Its 2016!

Germany started their climate series with a Planet Earth coin. This coin was innovative back in those archaic days of the mid 2010s.

How-Far-Back-Can-We-Go?-Seventh-Edition!-Ended-At-1380-Waiting-On-1379
The coin shows earth as represented by dots in the middle, the blue polymer represents the atmosphere and planets and stars in the outer ring.

The other side shows a slightly different eagle obverse and stars (German states?)

The 5 mints also have various shades of blue.

These coins have become very scarce now and retail around $50 - $70 each. I was lucky to get them.

There will be no more German climate coins from now on as we have reached the beginning of the series.

New Zealand had some circulation coins back in 2016 too.

The 10c and 50c were issued, a $2 was also apparently minted, but I have not seen any in circulation.

I love those coins NumisRob, especially the great fire of London £2.

One of my favourite sets of all time, came out in 2016.

Australia celebrated 50 years since Decimal currency and the circulating coins issued that year featured designs of all the Predecimal coins! These coins are quite scarce now and good finds in Australian noodling threads. The coins are in value order. 5c = Penny and Halfpenny (Roos), 10c = 3d (Wheat ears), 20c = 6d (Coat of arms 1910 and on all the pre 1938 silver coins), 50c = 1/- Ram, $1 = 2/- 1938 coat of arms and for the $2 - The design used on the 1937 and 1938 crown coins.

2016 Rio Olympics $2 coin set, each coin had a different coloured Olympic ring and various sports in the rimmage. This was the first really large set of coloured $2 coins. Previously were 1 or 2 mostly war based themes on the $2 coins.
