My 2008 UK BU set from the Royl Mint should have had a 'definitive' and an Olympic Centenary £2 coin, but had rwo Olympic £2 coins in it by mistake! Nice set NumisRob. My parents went back the UK that year and they bought a 2008 mint set for me. It had the old series of coins, but only had 1 penny through to 1 pound coins. |

Some more 08. I agree NumisRob and Trigg those later English sets are beautiful. I have seen the £1 to 1p shield advertised for 2008 as well and its a bit cheaper than the complete set. Some Canadian overkill from me   Standard 2008 quarter   Vancouver games quarter with snowboarding I think   And a cute little dime!   Irish 20 Eurocent coin - nice condition |

In 2008 Malta joined the Euro currency and issued their first set of coins.   This set has an interesting story. On my European trip in 2014, I found this set for sale at a newsagent booth in Florence, Italy (Hence the Italian) after buying some Gelato). It cost more than FV, but I knew Maltese Euro coins would scarce given Malta's tiny population. Coins show the Cross of St John, Maltese coat of arms and the Megalithic lintels from the 5000 year old temples there. Photos are old and a bit hazy - sorry. I still have this set though! |

I have that coin in a packet! Was going to show it, but.  The side with the bridge is a blurry photo, but 3M has a nice shot of it   2007 set showing the beautiful surf lifesaving 20 cent coin.   NZ's sole output was a 10 cent coin for the year and this is a scarce year with just 15 million minted, the lowest for any 10 cent coin of the new type except 2016. The next year (2006) was the first year of these coins. Edited by Princetane

A few British coins from 2007, starting with a two pence piece:  50 pence commemorating the Boy Scouts Movement:  £2 coin commemorating 300 years of the political union between England and Scotland - the two countries had been ruled by the same monarch since 1603, but Scotland retained its own parliament until 1707 (and had a separate monetary system):  £1 coin showing the Millennium Bridge across the Tyne at Newcastle. This coin is a forgery!  (The mushy design is a giveaway - also the edge is wrong). |
