I am in Lorraine again for the next few years.
Here is a 1716 teston; like some of erafjel's recent coins, it has been struck over an earlier type.

Another homely copper liard from Liard for 1713 (yeah, I bought these in a lot a few years ago specifically to fill holes this decade for How Far Back...).

This appears to be the type (of Leopold's testons) with the largest number of surviving specimens, including several dozen graded between AU and MS by NGC (this one is MS61). My guess is that a hoard was found sometime in the last 30 years, because quite a few are floating around on the market, at relatively modest prices for their grade (though even MS specimens may have adjustment marks, and/or have been struck over other coins).

I've been neglecting this thread and keep forgetting to post.

Fortunately, I do have a 1710.
After that, my next would be 1708, 07, 05, 03, 01, 00

So many lovely French coins in your collection!

My earliest Lorraine teston from Leopold's reign is this one, picked up recently. It's a bit scarcer type, as most of them were collected up and re-struck for the later types I've shown. The reverse design is the simplest form of the Lorraine arms, three eaglets on a diagonal band, in use since around 1200 (long before the more famous cross of Lorraine, which only appears from the 1400s).

1710 is one of the few dates I do have in that area as well...

France, Louis XIV (1643-1715)
30 deniers (mousquetaire), 1710-AA (Metz mint)
KM# 378.1, Numista 22499

This type is sometimes counted (e.g. by PCGS Coin Facts) as colonial currency, but apparently research suggests that this particular variety did not in fact circulate in the colonies.

Next up: 1699 (x2), 1684, 1657, 1645, 1622, 1616, 1615 (and maybe a few others that I've posted elsewhere but not on Numista yet). I'll try to avoid forgetting them...

Just 60 km (40 miles) between where your coin was struck, and mine, but different "countries" back then (well... for the next 50 years)
