Indeed @tdz. I'm switching over to Germany and the Low Countries for the next several days. This Half Batzen was minted at Munich (Duchy of Bavaria) in 1506 AD.

I am just outside Poland with this groschen of Silesia, Duchy of Glogau. I was on the hunt for this coin for several years, finally landing one last year, Not perfect, but nice clear date.

Here is a well-worn Patard from Maastricht and countermarked by Tournoi. The 1505 date is at about 8 o'clock on the reverse for this coin. We are now getting to the era where more and more of the numbers will have different shapes.

Here is a similar Patard, but minted one year earlier and sporting a peck mark:

Same nation-state (Duchy of Brabant), but a double patard struck at Antwerp rather than Maastricht. It has the same medieval 4 as the previous coin, but a "lightning bolt" style 5: The two types (patard, double patard) are the same size, but one has double the silver content of the other. Maastricht (spence's last two coins) is a place with a pretty interesting numismatic history (which I don't know all of). I think it has been a mint for the Merovingians, Carolingians. Holy Roman Empire, the Bishopric of Liege, the Duchy of Brabant (including the Burgundian and Spanish periods), and issued siege coinage several times (during the Dutch struggle for independence, the Franco-Dutch War). It has only been wholly a part of the Netherlands since 1815, by which point its numismatic history was over.

Nice to have you posting @bd. I think that your coin is from 1506 rather than 1406, so I have adjusted that. Please let me know if I have made an error. For today, I think that we are on 1503 AD. Here is a Groschen from Brandenburg (Berlin Mint):

This Witten was minted by the German City of Lünenburg in 1502 AD: For those of you confused by the form of the numbers, the date looks a bit like "1 7 . Z"

For 1502 I have this "toison d'argent" of the Duchy of Brabant: Following spence's comment on numberforms, the 5 looks like it got pushed over backwards.
