Perhaps it is 752 like this https://www.zeno.ru/showphoto.php?photo=65781 but because of the way the flan is cut off, half of the 7 and half of the 5 look like a 6.
I thought of that as well but couldn't find an example with a 5 that was compatible with the visible parts...

I'll probably have to compare some more examples to tell if it's actually 752 or 753, but I agree that it's probably not 762. IIRC there are some rosette variants dated in the 760s but they're later than 762 and have completely different legends.

I apologize for posting it on the incorrect day, but I really wasn't sure and there'd been some 762 coins posted already so I decided why not. If it does turn out to be a particular date in the 750s I can try to repost it on the corresponding day.

That is well within the rules—"As per usual, we can handle controversies and questions as they occur"—and the tradition of allowing questionable & uncertain examples to be posted after the year has been satisfied. It is always welcome because the discussion is often helpful.

I have a lot of AH761/1360, since this was the Golden Horde's equivalent to the Year of the Four Emperors.

My last for a bit. After this we're into the long reign of Jani Beg, and you have to be very enthusiastic to collect all of his coins

Berdi Beg Dirham, 759/1358. Just Sultan / Mohammed Berdi / Bek Khan. Mint Saray / al-Jadida / 759 (Sagdeeva 277).

1357 (AH 758) - none found? (Spence's coin is supposedly unclear in attribution? I no longer recall what the problem was)

Decade of 1350s is a wasteland for me. Starting 1347 I have a half dozen dates sprinkled over the next 10 years, but we may not get there .

Ah sorry wasn't paying attention to the progress of this thread closely enough.

Here is what I have for AH 758 (1357 AD): a Dirham from the Golden Horde/Mongol Empire minted at Saray al-Jadida, with attributions of Album 2031.2 and Sagdeeva 277. To my eyes, at least, the number 8 in the date is clear enough.

Very nice! Now, the discussion begins. Will this advance us or not?

I checked it out while looking up where the gap is; apparently at the time JohnConduitt said it could be 760 and I didn't know enough about those awkward Golden Horde dates to confirm one way or another, and then I never bothered to check because surely we'll never get anywhere near that far.

Now that I have actually compared it with the Zeno examples, I agree with your attribution - the 8 is very clear, near bottom of the second pic (and I think the squiggle just left of it is supposed to be the 5, which on some Golden Horde issues takes a mirror-J shape).
So yes, this should be enough to advance (not that we seem to have anywhere to advance to, of course, because 1356 and 1355 are also gaps, and judging by tdziemia's comment, so is 1354).
