Last coins for 1976 India 1 Rupee, these were decent size pieces back in the 1970s Belgium 250 Francs - Commemorating Silver Jubilee of King Baudouin. This is a huge silver coin, Face Value was 25x higher than the 10 Franc coin, the highest circulating one at time. Some European countries like France and Belgium had circulating high face value silver coins into the 1970s.

1975 British coins - the Half, 1, 2, 5 and 10 pence coins were issued for circulation but the 50p is an escapee from a Proof Set. It was the first year the 2p and 5p had been issued since 1971: The Isle of Man had a 25p crown featuring a Manx Cat: It was the last year regular Isle of Man coins used the 1971 reverse design with 'New Pence': Mexico 50 centavos: Costa Rica 50 centimos: Denmark 10 ore: Liberia 5 cents: Vatican City 20 Lire: Austria 100 Schillings: South Korea 100 Won: Haiti 5 centimes: Papua New Guinea 1 Kina: Cameroon 100 Francs: Swiss 5 Francs - Architectural Heritage Year:

1975 capped off a period of almost non stop coin issuing for New Zealand, it was the last year until 1979 for a complete issue, although the next 3 years - only one coin was not issued. This is a far cry from the coin shortages of the 1990s and early 2000s. Inflation was a good reason. Although at this stage most of the coins coming out were 10c and under, the 50c saw very modest numbers until 1981. My 75 group are like NumisRobs 50p, they likely escaped from an uncirculated set not long before they ended up in my collection. These are nice. Meanwhile I was being created to the sounds of Barry White and Teddy Pendergrass. Australia also issued the lot in 1975, very generous numbers of every denomination from 100+ million each of the 1c and 2c to just 19 million 50 cent coins. Here we have a average 10 cents and a very nice 5 cents. 1975 was known for the sacking of Prime Minister Gough Whitlam and also the success of AC/DC and the Skyhooks.

I really can't stand AC/DC at all or any headbanger music period, but I know they are massively popular and have a global following - plus they really put Australia on the map globally with their music. South Africa 50 cents - Apartheid era Papua New Guinea - I kina coins, it got independence in 1975 and their currency harked back to the New Guinea coinage days of the 30s and 40s with their holed coins. The rest of their new coins from 1 to 20 toea were conventional ones. These coins are worn like most PNG coinage, which had a hard life in the hot tropical climate. Malta 25 cents - A new denomination added in 1975 to go between the 10c and 50c coins. It was 8 sided and part of the Polygonal high face value coin craze of the 1970s.
