So what I can gather watching BOC and BOE videos on production of our poly notes, start with a clear poly a white ink is applied except for the security window, then the security strip is added, then the colour raised ink printing. The questions are do anyone knows who made the security strip and if it is glued on ?
The holographic Kinegram strips or patches made by Kurz are glued or hot stamped onto polymer sheets. The strips or patches are used with Guardian polymer substrate. The examples are polymer notes issued in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, England and Costa Rica (https://www.kurz-banknotes.com/references/).
Yes thanks for info,I sort of remember reading somewhere an Austria company was involved in the security strips of our notes but just could not recall the company, Kinegram Zero Zero strip over window. Almost nothing is Canadian about our poly notes except the theme
Thanks to all for the info, the security patch is heat applied as part of the Kurz process and the single lasered quality control system seems to be part of the Aussie Guardian process. I will post one of the best poly error in the near future and this post will become obvious.
This is the error note, the security tape is like half off the window and way out of center, the first photo shows the intaglio printing of the BOC and brown colouring over the security tape and parts of Borden"s portrait

EKR 0371816 had to do much research and help from this forum and friends to make sure this poly note error is real, so the poly is Aussie and comes to CBN printer as a 5x9 sheet white ink and the security tape already applied. The CBN then prints the rest of the note in Ottawa, some how this note escaped the laser and went into circulation, this note is not unc
Sure looks real to me. Looks as if the entire sheet would have that error (IMO) but I'm no expert on the production process. That's a really cool error as I've never seen anything like it.
That is exactly what I said the first time seeing this note at the recent RCNA problem was getting the person to sell it, this note after much research IMO is a best poly error that has escaped. When you see videos of major printing press manufacturers like Giesecke and Dervrient, Kurz, even KBA which I am almost sure this is the press CBN is using, the laser and bundlers are all very similar with the laser and roladex counter and banders, I assume one of these companies owns the laser patent and has licensed the tech out. If you watch the G and D video their laser picks out so many points of a bank note at amazing speeds, this is the reason major errors in poly notes are seldom seen. This error happened on the Aussie side, there most likely 44 other examples but most were caught by the laser or just nobody noticed and they are or were in circulation.
Very cool error! The note appears to still be in good shape, despite being circulated. Someone obviously noticed the error early on and pulled it from circulation. Any idea as to what part of the country the note was found? Thanks for sharing.
