As to your question: yes, these "double eagles" are attributed to the reign of Ptolemy VI. I'm not sure of the designation "diobol" - I believe there's still some debate on the exact denomination of particular bronze coins from particular periods - the old Sear catalogue plays it safe and simply names them by size in millimetres. But I could be behind the times, here. I'm also not sure how big your coin is. This coin appears to have only a single cornucopia in the field to the left of the eagles - that should mean this coin is about 21mm diameter? There is a larger coin (29mm diameter) with the same design, only with a "double cornucopia". Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis Report this Post to the Staff
