Hello everyone! Not super familiar with this coin. Out of my normal wheelhouse. I think it is a 1704 1 Thaler from Austria. It unfortunately looks like it was mounted as jewelry at one point. Any info on it is appreciated, as well as any grade guesses. Any questions please let me know. Any help is always appreciated!

Thanks! I did find it on that site, and seems to confirm what I thought I was. https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces78242.htmlI believe it's a "thin" bust variation, but not 100% on that. Maybe someone can chime in on that topic and/or thoughts on grade.

@my, first welcome to CCF. Second, that is an interesting piece you have there. Can you please post the weight and confirm it isn't attracted to a strong magnet? I know the remnant loop will add a bit of mass, but the letters look a little off to me so I want to be a little cautious in my assessment. Thx.

@Spence Thanks! It is not attracted to a magnet. It measures 41.7mm in diameter (a small variation dependent on where I take the measurement from around the coin, but all 41.xx). The scale I have handy only does 1/2 gram increments, and flip flops between 28.5 and 29.

That is not particularly helpful @numis. Please limit your replies to answering the OP's questions. Thx. @myg, thx for posting this addition information. I was initially concerned about the lightness of strike on some of the letters causing them to be incompletely struck (the letter D of LVDS for example). After looking at other examples on acsearch this seems to be typical. See here for example: https://www.acsearch.info/search.ht...=1&es=1&ot=1¤cy=usd&order=0 The grade on this one is a bit nicer than yours. The prior mount will always be part of the grade description, although it is quite unobtrusive with your coin.

Leopold "The Hog Mouth". Looks like an EF-40 details coin. Loop removed from the rim.
