Hello,

Does anyone have an ANA membership? What are the advantages for a novice like me? I'm really into Proof coins both annual sets and Modern Commemorative. Do you think that is enough to be an ANA member?

Thanks,
Rich

I belong to the ANA and I have no regrets. I don't care much for the magazine, The Numismatist, but many members count that as the biggest advantage and love it. It's just that most of the articles don't really appeal to me, but it still is a very nice and well put together magazine.

You get discounts from their numismatic store including just about any book you'd want and tons of different items and accessories.

A major advantage is you get a deep discount for attending the ANA Summer Seminar which is something every numismatist must do at least once in their life. I LOVE IT! I've done it twice now and I look forward to the next time. It's a numismatic heaven and a basic Who's Who In Numismatics that attends. Simply first rate.

Another great perk is that you can borrow any item from their library (certain special archives are off-limits to this) for free except for postage/insurance both ways. I've done this a couple of times and was well worth it. They have basically any book imaginable and a lot of out-of-print and hard to get stuff.

Lifetime members get a deeper discount to the Summer Seminar and additional store discounts plus other stuff.

Finally, you're doing your part in helping support an organization that has the ultimate goal of supporting the hobby we all love.

You'll hear from some that don't care for the ANA due to some political stuff that recently happened there. I try to look past all that.

I say....JOIN!

Yep, this is a great benefit. I've got 6 books on the way to me right now.
