Half Lydian Stater, Authentic Or Not?

Sovereign New Member United Kingdom 1 Posts	Posted 08/13/2022 7:53 pm I bought this coin a while ago and I'd like to have a better idea as to weather it is real or not, from my research I have been unable to find another example of this coin with the raised eye design in the bull leading me to suspect that it is fake, it does however test as silver and weigh 5.1g. While I'm not spotting an obverse match in the fake reports, I do note similarities to the reverse punch(es) used on these fakes, below. They are described as cold struck or pressed fakes. For comparison, the OP coin is in the middle. The top fake - on the large flan - was listed as a stater, the smaller flan at bottom was a half stater. Report this Post to the Staff
