Hope you all have a few already as this coin has gone bonkers.
Purchase price was $15 , has been slowly climbing in value over the last 2 years until very recently .
Now you will have to fork out over $200.00
2021 coins have also gone nuts over the last weeks.

The poor little recipient of this coin won't be able to spend it, if it happens to be a collector coin.

Besides, a pre schooler would have no idea how to spend $200, if it was sold.

Kit contains a pen, a tooth brush, and a little bag for the tooth that was spat out.
If the kit is to remain intact for collector purposes, the poor little kid won't even be able use the tooth brush, or the pen. Perhaps the little bag could be used, but I unsure if a genuine tooth in the bag would add to the collector value of the kit.
Would a genuine coin collector want some unknown kid's tooth, if the kit was sold?

A subversive way to promote tooth decay, or for more teeth to fall out.

Child manipulation.
Not sure if by the RAM, or the parents.

Interesting product. The Mint released the Tooth Fairy coin in a kit with a toothbrush and a glitter fairy pen. This kit costing $25. If it's just the coin you're after then your local friendly Royal Australian Mint authorised distributor have been given the opportunity to order the coin in a collector card that will retail for $15. The catch is that these were pre-ordered (by dealer demand) and will not be available until the middle of May. A total of 12,000 of the Tooth Fairy uncirculated $2 coins will be presented and released this way. So there were two options, a coin in a collector card or a kit.

I will quote SAP which also applies here to items in special packaging, and its demand/popularity and the supply that is a main driver of value:

Quote:
Just remember, those old toys and comic books are only valuable collectors items now, because 99% of the parents of the kids of that age simply threw out that junk when their kid left home.

If everybody had kept them, then (a) everyone who got nostalgic for their lost childhood and wanted one would still have one, reducing demand, and (b) there's be a lot more of them sitting around in the antique shops, increasing supply. Combining these two facts would mean they wouldn't have become rare and valuable collectors items today.

Crazy - I thought it was a fairly forgettable coin.

I regard all modern mint issue products as a poor investment.

Getting close to $300 a coin now... Dec 2023 will be close to $500 I reckon.

crab eater, I know you'd be happy to sell something you bought for $15 for $300+ but who on Earth would want to buy them at that price?

Selling price has stalled and may have dropped a little so my prediction is way off, still...the mintage is low for a $2 coin that is very collectable and of great eye appeal IMHO.
Pity there is no silver or proof version as it would look beautiful.

I have 4 2020 Tooth Fairy coins from a kit (bought in 2020 from mint at $25) returning from PCGS grading. One got MS67, two got MS68 and one got MS69. MS69 have only 22 pop and there has only been one 70.
Someone listed a MS69 on a FB coin group for $800 and it sold in about 1 minute, about a week ago.
Everyone wondered why the seller had put such a low price, they said they had it listed higher on eeBay for quite a while but had no bites.
I'll hold onto my 69.
