A local dealer I know sometimes soaks wheat pennies in 3 in 1 oil to help remove dirt and crud. Is this okay to do? As far as I know he doesn't scrub them or anything like that. Thanks, all opinions appreciated.

NO it is not OK.
He does it so they are nice and shinny. A large amount of people just don't like dirty stuff so he cleans coins so more of those people will buy them. Any oils will make the coins look pretty.
Ignore him. Don't clean coins.
